CHAPTER TEN
Kendrick
I stirred in the bed, which was actually more comfortable than my own back in Kansas. I wasn’t rich when I was just a Beta Capo under my old Alpha. But when I killed him, I took over his income. I did the same when I killed the dragon King, so I was learning what a life of luxury could really feel like. By our supe law, everything in the lands that I’d conquered belonged to me. Deeds would be written over in my name from both Laurent and Akio’s ownings. Bank accounts… well, Akio’s, because I had killed his mate. But Darla would get to keep Laurent’s money. The house was mine, though. That was good enough for me.
I grabbed my cell phone from the nightstand, noticing I had missed two calls. It was exactly four hours from the time I’d said I wanted to rest. Hopefully, my army was ready to leave, because I was. I checked my call log to see who I’d missed. My human spy. I called him back immediately.
“What’s going on?” I asked, skipping past all pleasantries.
“We’re at Deacon’s Forrest Grove territory. He’s gathered all of his pack at that location.”
“So, you’re telling me there’s no point in going to Selena’s old territory because I won’t find any of his pack there?” I wanted clarification.
“Exactly. I’m in a motel now, my boy---mark—”
“I don’t give a shit if you’ve grown attached to him. For your service, I’ll let him live and he can join my pack. Go on.”
“Thank you, Sir. You are a generous King and Alpha. I’m at a motel room now waiting for my boyfriend to return. He went to pledge his loyalty to Deacon now that Akio is dead.”
“Is that everything?”
“That’s all I know for now, Sir. When he returns, I’ll call with more information.”
“Very well. Good job.” I ended the call. He didn’t have a lot of information for me, but just knowing Deacon was no longer in Selena’s territory was worth enough. Wasting time wasn’t in my game plan. I walked out of the bedroom to see the house was empty. I made my way to the backyard and that was where I found my army all ready to go. Those who wanted to travel by car were already inside their vehicles and the dragons who chose to fly were ready to take off at my command. Their wings expanded for faster travel.
“Everyone is ready, my King,” Giancarlo said as he approached me with a bow.
I nodded my approval. I felt revived after having fucked him earlier, then had taken another nap. “We’re heading toward Forrest Grove, southeast from here.”
With that, my army took off; engines revved, dragon soared. Me, I was going to take full advantage of that gorgeous fucking Harley Davidson I’d spotted in the garage. The engine purred like the horniest dragon between my legs and the horsepower was exceptional. I was speeding down the road, passing my pack in their cars with the wind whipping past me.
